Samsona's Subaru Impreza STI sequential gear kit

Samsona's Subaru Impreza STI sequential gear kit

This gear kit was specially developed for the Subaru Impreza STI and is used in the original gearbox

Designed for rally, drag racing or hillclimb.

The production and distribution of Samsonas is in Lithuania, therefore spare parts are available within a short time and extremely inexpensive. The optional gear lever is completely CNC milled. Sensors are used by KA and Variohm (both suppliers to Formula 1 and Moto GP).

Various gear ratios are available for the gear kit. We have developed a transmission simulation tool to design the optimal gear ratio. In a simple variant, create plots of speeds, axis torques, accelerations and much more for every possible translation. We also calculate the optimal gear shift speeds depending on the gear ratio and gear. This enables us to calculate and deliver the optimal translation for the fastest sprint and lap times.

In order to fully exploit the advantages of a sequential transmission, we recommend a freely programmable control unit from MoTeC or Link ECU. We program this so that the ignition and / or injection is interrupted when switching. This enables upshifting under constant full throttle, without using the clutch. Downshifting with automatic double-declutching is also possible. With the correct design of the drive train, even without coupling.

If you are already using a freely programmable control device with Gearcut function, we will coordinate this accordingly. If you do not yet have a suitable control unit, we will be happy to advise you on the different variants and options of MoTec and Link ECU control units. Simply contact us for this. We also carry out motorsport cabling according to Mil specifications and coordination on our high Dynapack dynamometer in-house.

We would be happy to advise you by e-mail, by phone or personally (with advance notice) at autobau Romanshorn.

Gear lever:

We recommend using the appropriate sequential CNC machined gear lever. End stops on the gearshift lever can be set, which limits the load on the gearshift linkage, even with "strong" drivers.

Shift force sensor:

The shift force sensor is mounted in the shift linkage and measures the force that the driver applies to the gear lever. The signal is fed into the engine control unit. This triggers the switching process from a certain force. In addition, the exact switching forces can be identified and optimized by means of data recording. Bad habits on the part of the driver, such as slowly releasing the gear lever after shifting, can also be recognized. The sound force sensor is from KA-Sensor, an excellent motorsport sensor manufacturer that supplies Formula 1, Moto-GP, WRC etc.

Potentiometer for gear recognition:

The potentiometer is mounted on the shift drum. The sensor delivers the exact position to the gear display and engine control unit. A closed loop gear cut can be implemented in advanced control devices such as MoTeC and Link ECU. The shifting process is triggered by the shifting force sensor. If the control unit now detects the next gear using the gear potentiometer, the shifting process is ended. In this way you always achieve the optimal switching times and the service life of the transmission is significantly increased. The sound force sensor is from KA-Sensor, an excellent motorsport sensor manufacturer. The sound force sensor is from Variohm, an excellent motorsport sensor manufacturer who supplies Formula 1, Moto-GP, WRC etc.

Gan display:

The digital gear display can be used as a standalone solution with the potentiometer for gear recognition. The individual gears can be easily learned. Ideal for applications where there is no motorsport dash for the gear indicator. The display is from Variohm, an excellent motorsport sensor manufacturer that supplies Formula 1, Moto-GP, WRC, etc., among others.
